Eaton and Allen connections and YDNA

Hello. My father is O G Allen. He did a YDNA test, which did not reveal any Allens. Our autosomal DNA is verified back to Gersham Allen b 1734 and whom lived in Orange County, NC, Wilkes County, Pendleton County, SC, KY, and Jackson Co, TN. YDNA has revealed our closest match as Samuel Eaton who match dad at Y111 with a five step difference. Mr Samuel Eatons ancestor is George Eaton b 1686 Pennsylvania. His family are from Wales, with his grandparents John Eaton b 1635, and Joan (unknown) b 1635 immigrating in 1683, and his father John Eaton and Jane his mother, coming over by 1685 with his uncles and his two brothers John Jr and Joseph b 1679. We have developed a SOURCED TIMELINE for this Wales family group and it will be sent to a member of the Eaton Family Association for use by members. We also have some YDNA to Greenes that seem to be from the Warwick Greenes. There is a Hubbard YDNA match in there. Just looking for family that also sees connections to any of those. We have started sourced timelines on the Dedham Eatons, the Thomas Eaton who founded Eatontown, NJ and his family ties seem to be England. I have not done research back to their Countries of origin. There are other Eaton group of course and maybe in time dna will bring them more into clarity. Interested in correspondence with others researching these groups. D3dpatt@gmail.com

Hi
My great grandfather was called Hugh Eaton and on the 1901 census for Ireland it says he was born in Donegal. Hugh was born circa 1870/1 and as fsr as I know his father was called James Eaton…Hugh lived in Londonderry/Derry and died in 1939.I am trying to get a connection to Donegal, if Hugh rings any bells please get in touch.
Kind Regards
Paul.

Eaton family tree

My Eaton family came to America in 1635 on the ship Heracles. They landed in Watertown Massachusetts. I can for sure go back to Abijah Eaton New Hampshire. He and his wife lived there until Abijah passed away. She then moved the family to Fitchville Ohio. Her son William married Hannah Mead Green. Her son Issac stayed in Fitchville Ohio. William's brother moved to Galveston, Texas. I believe this family is the family that owns Eaton realty in Galveston. William and Hannah moved to Barry County Michigan. William and Hannah had a son named Albert Eaton. He married Cornelia Howe. His brother William Henry Eaton married Cornelia's sister Theresa Howe.
Albert and Cornelia had 12 children. My grandfather Earl Eaton is Albert's son. Earl Eaton married Alice Golden. My father is Steven Leo Eaton. I'm the oldest of 3 children.
I have 3 children. My brother has one son. My other brother has 2 sons. My father is number 15 of 16 children.
Dear Ranae, Thank you for your post. I see that you hail from Eaton Rapids, MI, named after US Senator John Henry Eaton.
Sincerely, Joy Eaton Nemergut, EFA Membership Chair

Eatons of Parkersburg, WV

Hello, my late great aunt did an ancestry dna test just a couple of years ago linking our family to the Eatons of Parkersburg, WV as she had several Eaton cousins matches and my late Great Grandmother was born and raised in Parkersburg. Her given last name was Mehl but she may in fact have been an Eaton. I am trying to ascertain if the majority of Eatons were Ulster-Scots or Irish immigrants to the area, or mostly from England or Wales since the original surname is English. I have read that there were quite a few Scottish Eatons who migrated to the Ulster Plantation and then later to America. Any information pertaining to the ancestry of Parkersburg Eatons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dear Michael,
Yes, The Eaton Families Association has members from California. You have an excellent idea to be in touch with fellow EFA members in your area.
